it’s a tradition at korean weddings to whack the groom in the feet. poor jimmy got beat by a pool cue, a belt,
and his own shoes. and then he had to dance afterwards!

holy. cow. i don’t even know where to start. chongmi and jimmy are one of the coolest couples we’ve gotten to work with. (and that says a lot, because ALL of our clients are awesome. hehe.) their wedding was non-stop and a ton of fun! we started downtown where they had their ceremony at their church. then we braved the construction and traffic on I-90 and made it out to bristol court in mount prospect for their reception. (ps, the ice cream crepes at bristol court are AMAZING. trust me on this one.)

this was our first official wedding and it was a great start to what we hope is a very long and cake-filled time here. we had such a blast at their reception. they had a ton of friends and family there (some all the way from korea!), and everyone danced the night away to their awesome dj. we couldn’t have asked for a more fun-loving crowd.

chongmi&jimmy - thank you for being so awesome! you made our first official chicago wedding so much fun. we’re so happy for you guys!! hope you enjoyed hawaii! :)

check out some more photos in this nifty slideshow.

dover, de
i figured we’d share some of my family photos we took the last time we were in delaware with you all. :) my dad is shipping off to afghanistan with the air national guard pretty soon, so we figured we’d take some new epic family pics before he left. i happen to think they turned out pretty well, don’t you think?

most of the credit for these goes to tony, since obviously i’m in most of the photos. (duh!) and let me tell you it is WEIRD being on the other side of the camera. a lot of people think that we must be great at getting our pictures taken since we take pictures for a living. WRONG! anytime someone points a camera my way, i still run screaming in the other direction. i’m much better at pressing the shutter than at hamming it up for the camera. ;) tony was great though, and made sure we got some fantastic shots. (it takes a very firm hand to keep this tribe in line. hehe.)

so everyone say a little prayer for my daddy that he comes back to us safe and sound!

and on a side note, if anyone in delaware is looking for a gorgeous lab puppy to add to their family, give us a shout. my grandpa’s pure bred lab, sadie, just had a whole litter and they are adorable! here’s a photo of them at one week. (they’re a whole lot older now. :P)

st. charles, il

whew, so we FINALLY had a free second to post this super fun engagement session. we met with jessie&brian in downtown st. charles, and had an absolute BLAST walking around. downtown st. charles has all these great little alleys and bars and parking lots that just make for great backdrops. aannnddd we found the COOLEST covered bridge of all time.

there was quite a bit of squee-ing and dancing during this session because the light was just amazing the ENTIRE time. as we were walking towards the bridge we passed by the alleyway in the fifth shot and both tony and i just gasped. i’m sure jessie and brian thought we were out of our minds! :) but i’d like to think that we weren’t as crazy as we appeared.

check back soon for their wedding photos because they’re getting married NEXT WEEK (eep!) in wisconsin. we’re so pumped for their wedding!

things that are awesome - week 3

uuhhh, yeah. i have been severely lacking in things of awesomeness as of late. for this i apologize.

but IT’S BACK baby! and better than ever. check it.

1.) 200 COMMENTS!

congrats to elizabeth for being our 200 commenter!! for this honor she will receive a shiny new $10 itunes card so she can jam out to all her favorite music. here’s a random photo that includes ‘200′ just for kicks.

2.) ray and pete

if you like football, then you probably know who ray nitschke is. when we were in wisconsin on vacation a few weeks ago we managed to stumble into a used book store and come across an autographed copy of ray’s autobiography ‘mean on sunday.’ now while that’s pretty awesome in and of itself, it gets better. when you crack open the book to page 17, ray tells you about the time his high school (proviso) played against oak park for the suburban league high school state championship.

“Late in the game, Oak Park was ahead 19-14 and had the ball on our seven. We were playing at home. There were seven thousand people watching. I’d never heard of the Super Bowl at that point-neither had anybody else, because it hadn’t been invented-but playing my last high school game before all those people was just as big and event to me at the time as the league playoffs would be later on.

We stopped Oak Park on our one-yard line, so we had the ball with seven minutes left. I went back in the end zone and drilled a pass to Pete Fiorito on the twelve, which gave us a little room to maneuver, and then we went on down the field, running and passing, with one of the black guys on our team, Fred Keys, making a couple of great catches along the way. We were on Oak Park’s one when I handed the ball to Fiorito, and he went through right tackle for the touchdown with 1:03 left, and we were the champions.

I still remember that ninety-nine yard march. …and I thought afterward, ‘Ray, this is the biggest game of your life.’”
- ‘mean on sunday’ by ray nitschke, pg 17-18

that pete fiorito he mentioned? that’s tony’s grandpa. :) he and ray nitschke stayed good friends after high school and even roomed together in college. ray was even in tony’s grandparent’s wedding. here’s a recent photo of grandpa pete in all his awesomness.

3.) thank you notes

we LOVE hearing when clients love their images. that’s about 90% of why we love our jobs. but what’s even cooler is when they send us thank you notes! i try to pretend i’m not a super emotional person, but the truth is i get weepy at the drop of a hat, lol. so when we got this note from sara&pat in the mail i was a ball of happy tears.

keep being awesome!
