for us, priscilla&mike’s wedding was an adventure! we got to take a break from the hot and humid chicago summer, and enjoy the… er… hot and humid philadelphia summer for awhile instead. it’s always fun to shoot in new places, but this was a real treat. priscilla&mike had their ceremony in the delightful riverfront suburb of conshohocken (conshy for short) at the eye-poppingly epic st. matthew’s church. from there, we made our way to market street in downtown philly. both the flyers and the phillies were playing home games that night, so the energy on the streets was intense. add to that the fact that you can’t turn around in this area without bumping into a historic landmark. we were giddy while we were shooting priscilla, mike, and their awesome wedding party.

on to tangerine for the reception, and that giddy feeling just wouldn’t go away. the lighting, music, layout, decorations….everything just worked. it is one of those restaurants that makes everyone at the wedding look (and feel) like a rock star.

so there it is - priscilla&mike, you guys are rock stars! congrats

ohhhh how i love our couples. seriously - they are awesome! we knew when we hung out with vanessa&ben for their engagement session that their wedding was going to be amazing, and they did not disappoint. they had their memorial day weekend wedding at the fantastically gorgeous belvedere banquets in elk grove village. all the details were amazing. from vanessa’s stunning dress and birdcage veil (LOVE!), to the flowers, to the music, to the DANCING, everything was perfection!

hands down favorite moment - vanessa was salsa dancing with her brother, and ben surprises her by cutting in. the whole room went wild! check out the slideshow for details.

and on top of all of that, we really have to thank both their families for being so great. we always have a blast at weddings, but they all went out of their way to make us feel included in the party.

so vanessa&ben - here’s to you and your epicness. you guys rock!

vanessa’s mom actually made this ringbearer pillow to go with her lovebird theme. how cool is that?!

dear illinois,

i know i’m new to this whole mid-west weather thing you guys have going on around here. but would it be so much to ask that you not have violent thunderstorms that result in power outages and internet troubles for weeks at a time? because that would be swell if we got that taken care of. thanks!

so lauren and nick have been unendingly patient for this blog post. but it’s finally here! we got to hang out with them downtown right before our big philly/delaware trip and we had a great time. they wanted something that said “CHICAGO!” and i think we hit the nail on the head. we started in and around the chicago cultural center. (which, by the way, has some of our favorite architecture ever! in fact - the whole city of chicago is like an architectural junkie’s heaven.) then we swung around the backlot of the chicago theater, and hit up michigan avenue. finishing it up with one of the sweetest shots of the chicago skyline we’ve ever taken.

all in all - this engagement session was a humungo success! super pumped to hang out with lauren&nick again in just a few weeks for their wedding in galena.

told you the inside of the cultural center was awesome!

i know we’re a little late celebrating the chicago blackhawks stanley cup victory, but since nick is a huge hawks fan, we couldn’t resist!

we’re back in chicago!! after an insane trip back to delaware for priscilla&mike’s awesome philly wedding, my little brother’s high school graduation, and a host of other family gatherings and photo sessions - we have returned and we are ready to go! our apologies for neglecting our blog. we know you guys have been waiting patiently!

we had vanessa&mike’s session at the gorgeous morton arboretum in glen ellyn. of course, it decided to storm like crazy just minutes before we were supposed to start! luckily it passed fairly quickly and we had the whole place to ourselves after that. we were there for 2 hours and barely covered a tiny corner of the place! we’re so glad that they chose such a beautiful place to shoot. (did i mention that’s where they got engaged? soooo cute!) we had a fantastic time and we absolutely can’t wait for their october wedding!!

i would like to take a moment and say how in love with vanessa’s dress i am.
