when we tell couples to pick an engagement session location that says “we would totally make out here,” we MEAN it. so when tracey&roger told us they wanted to do their session on a sailboat, we were all in. these two learned how to sail a few years ago, and now go as often as they can. i, on the other hand, have NEVER been on a sailboat before so i was ridiculously excited and terrified at the same time. (i should also mention at this point, that i’m petrified of deep water.) despite going out on one of the windiest days of the year, we had an amazing time. their friend jamie came along to man the boat while we took some photos. it was SO MUCH FUN. and holy cow, what a view of the city!
after our boating excursion we did some more shots around the harbor and then ran over to goose island to grab some shots with a slightly different feel. a huge thanks to tracey&roger for taking us on an awesome ride and hanging out with us even though it was a wee bit windier than planned.
know i mean this 100% when i say that youngmi&artie are the sweetest people i’ve ever met. despite having a completely depressing forecast for their wedding day, these two were practically glowing when we got to the ravisloe country club. tony and i came prepared with lots of umbrellas and positive attitudes. if it was going to rain – we were going to make the best of it. and then you know what happened? the skies parted. most of the time i would say that’s just some really good luck. but i like to think that it’s because youngmi&artie truly deserved a perfect wedding. and that’s exactly what they got.
youngmi really took to the diy approach, and with the help of her awesome bridesmaids, created a jaw-dropping affair. from the dresses, to the flowers, to the polaroid guestbook, to the ADORABLE custom cake topper that youngmi made HERSELF. (see how she made it!) every little thing was planned and executed perfectly. and we’re so glad they were able to have their ceremony outside. ravisloe has what is probably the most gorgeous outdoor ceremony location i’ve seen recently. it’s like getting married at a romantic spanish villa… except in illinois.oh and did i mention that youngmi looked like a 50′s hollywood starlet? my hat off to marissa & jill from styles down the aisle, because youngmi looked completely radiant the whole day.
to youngmi&artie – holy. cow. i know we said it probably a gazillion times that day, but WOW. we were so honored to be a part of your wedding. you guys are really fabulous.
holy november weddings, batman! here in the land of ice and snow, it’s not common that we get wedding inquiries past october. but look out internet, because we have FIVE weddings between november and december this year. renee&kurt’s wedding is right around the corner at the end of november! they’re getting married at the abbington, and we are really excited to check it out!
these guys picked the perfect fall day for an engagement session. we headed out to naperville’s gorgeous riverwalk. if you haven’t been there during the fall – drop what you’re doing and go RIGHT NOW! it’s stunning this time of year. and of course, only made better by the adorableness of these two. enjoy the photos!
yay for meg&brandon! we knew this wedding was going to be super fun, and they did not disappoint! we went to downtown long grove for portraits before the ceremony, and that town has quickly become one of my favorite spots ever. everywhere you turn there is something new and awesome to see! while we were there we made an emergency popcorn pit stop at the long grove popcorn shoppe and i am now completely addicted to their kettle corn.
